OverviewRichmond is a town on the western edge of Ontario County, bordered to the north by West Bloomfield, to the east by Bristol and South Bristol, and to the south and west by Livingston County (Springwater to the south, Livonia to the west). Here, you’re right in the heart of the westernmost of the Finger Lakes: Honeoye Lake, one of the smaller Finger Lakes, is in the town of Richmond, and three others – Conesus, Canadice and Hemlock, are just west of Richmond. The larger Canandaigua Lake is a bit further east. Richmond contains several hamlets, the best known of which is Honeoye, which sits at the northern end of Honeoye Lake. Honeoye has several small businesses and restaurants, along with a beach, park and state boat launch. Honeoye’s business corridor serves most of the small towns nearby, and is busiest in the warm-weather months, when the population is increased by seasonal residents. Many residents in the Richmond area often identify with Honeoye before identifying with their own town. Local Museums/Landmarks Honeoye Lake is the main landmark in the area. Neither the town of Richmond nor the hamlet of Honeoye has a historical society. |
