Welcome to Richmond, NY

Overview

Richmond is a town on the western edge of Ontario County, bordered to the north by West Bloomfield, to the east by Bristol and South Bristol, and to the south and west by Livingston County (Springwater to the south, Livonia to the west). Here, you’re right in the heart of the westernmost of the Finger Lakes: Honeoye Lake, one of the smaller Finger Lakes, is in the town of Richmond, and three others – Conesus, Canadice and Hemlock, are just west of Richmond. The larger Canandaigua Lake is a bit further east.

Essentials

Honeoye has a busy commercial center with several small businesses, such as a grocery, drugstore, hardware store and auto-parts store. For additional grocery shopping, the closest options are in Canandaigua (about 16 miles northeast), where you’ll find a Wegmans supermarket on Eastern Boulevard and a Tops Friendly Markets store on North Street at Route 332. Canandaigua also has the nearest major retail stores, like Walmart and others..

Recreation & Entertainment

The main attraction is Honeoye Lake, and water sports, fishing and ice fishing are the top forms of entertainment. Three more of the smaller Finger Lakes – Canadice, Hemlock and Conesus – are just minutes away.

Transportation & Traffic

Route 20A heads east-west through Richmond. Route 15A heads north-south and is on the western edge of town.

Pros & Cons

Most people who live here identify first with the hamlet of Honeoye, and the area has been known for years as a summer resort-type of area. Honeoye Lake is the main focus here, and the area is great for boating, fishing and other water activities. There’s some beautiful, unspoiled scenery in this region, and it’s a quick drive from Richmond to four other Finger Lakes. Although Richmond is mainly wide-open, the hamlet of Honeoye has several businesses and a village-like feel.
