Canandaigua is a lively combination of the natural beauty of the lake, a vibrant commercial district and an old-timey Main Street, and a rich history. This is where suffragette Susan B. Anthony was tried for voting, found guilty and fined, although she never paid the fine. A century before, the Treaty of Canandaigua was signed here to keep peace between the U.S. government and the Six Nations of the Iroquois. Today, Canandaigua is a center for business, government, health care and education, as well as a hotspot for boating in the summer. Canandaigua is the home of Constellation Brands, which was founded as the Canandaigua Wine Company, and the New York Wine and Culinary Center. Finger Lakes Community College is at the border of Canandaigua and Hopewell, and performing arts center is on the campus
