Overview

Bristol is a town in the western half of Ontario County, bordered to the north by East Bloomfield, to the east by Canandaigua, to the south by South Bristol and to the west by Richmond. This is wide-open farm country, with a population of just over 2,300 people. Bristol is a scenic region of hills and valleys.


Essentials

Most shopping needs can be met in nearby Canandaigua. For groceries, there’s a Tops Friendly Markets store at 5150 North St. at Route 332, and a Wegmans supermarket at 345 Eastern Boulevard (Routes 5 & 20). For retail shopping, Canandaigua has a Walmart and other chains stores along Eastern Boulevard and smaller stores along busy Main Street. The Bristol Library is at 6740 County Road 32. The closest hospital is F.F. Thompson in Canandaigua. Four school districts serve Bristol: Honeoye, Bloomfield and Naples central school districts and the Canandaigua City School District.



Recreation & Entertainment

The great outdoors is the main attraction here. Hunting, fishing, hiking and other outdoor activities are popular in Bristol and the surrounding region. You’re just minutes away from Bristol Mountain Ski Resort, which is in neighboring South Bristol. The ski resort attracts visitors from throughout the Greater Rochester area every winter, and offers “sky rides” during fall foliage season.



Transportation & Traffic

Route 20A passes through Bristol. Route 64 is a north-south highway in the southeast part of town. The well-traveled Routes 5 & 20 is just north of Bristol.



Pros & Cons

If you like a quiet, picturesque small town with plenty of wide-open space, Bristol is for you. The town and city of Canandaigua, with all they offer, are just a few miles east. Bristol is close to both Canandaigua and Honeoye lakes.
