Overview

Victor is a town in northwestern Ontario County, bordered to the north by Perinton (Monroe County), to the east by Farmington, to the south by East Bloomfield and to the west by the hamlet of Fishers and the town of Mendon (Monroe County).


Essentials

With Eastview Mall in town, there’s never a shortage of places to shop. Eastview has expanded several times and now is among the largest shopping centers in the region. Next door to and acorss the road form the mall, you’ll also find stores such as Target and Kmart. Main Street Victor (Route 96) also has a variety of shopping options, from independent stores to chains. For grocery shopping, there’s a Wade’s Market Center supermarket on Route 96, near the Farmington town line...



Recreation & Entertainment

Regal Cinemas Eastview is a multiplex for moviegoers. Ganondagan often hosts special events. Eastview Mall is usually bustling with activity. Apple farms and golf courses can be found throughout the area. Finger Lakes Racetrack & Casino, which offers thoroughbred racing, slot machines and other entertainment, is in neighboring Farmington. Also in Farmington is the Ontario Antiques Mall Co-Op, an enormous indoor flea market. Canandaigua’s attractions and historic sites are a few miles southeast.



Transportation & Traffic

The New York State Thruway passes through the north part of Victor and intersects Interstate 490 near Fishers. Route 96 runs east-west and is called Main Street in the village. Route 96 passes by the Erie Canal just west of Victor, and the road is well traveled especially in Victor. Route 251 connects the west part of Victor to Monroe County.



Pros & Cons

Victor is a fast-growing area which has evolved from a sleepy, farming community to a bedroom community for people who work in Monroe County. Eastview Mall is probably the most upscale shopping center in the region, with recent additions including fine dining establishments. The school district is well regarded. Traffic on Route 96 can be brutal, particularly through the village and especially by Eastview Mall around the Christmas season.
